the covid years 2020/2021

Well a lot has happened since we arrived back in Canada Feb 1 of 2020. We flew into Calgary from Costa Rica, and it was soooo wonderful to see our son and have him drive us to  Fernie where we would spend a couple months hanging out with him and enjoying some snow. Then we got sick… and then COVID 19 happened all across the World!!!

After spending almost 2 years of being together 24/7 since we pulled the pin in 2018, we each unexpectedly took some much needed time in 2020 to be on our own, hanging out and being in SK with friends. Later in the year we flew out to NS and discovered campgrounds were closed, so we were forced to find rentals to live in over the next many months.

One of the joys of being “homefree” is you get to pick where you want to live and explore, but we didn’t expect to ever have to rent a home. You see, originally when we retired we planned to scout out a place to buy, or perhaps some land to build on in a few years. But like many peoples plans over the next 2 years during Covid, ours went a little sideways to say the least.

It turned out to be ok as most things do, and we cherished the good times we had with our daughter, her partner and our granddaughter in those 2 years. We also made so many wonderful new friends in Nova Scotia, and now here we are again getting ready to leave.

Exploring NS was absolutely fantastic and once the province opened up to camping we put on a lot of kilometers discovering the great hiking, paddling and mountain biking there is to be had.

Fast forward to Spring of 2022 and we are  just getting ready to hit the road to travel again. This time heading from Eastern Canada to Western Canada.

If I could pick a handful of photos to give you a taste of what you can find in Nova Scotia…these are the ones I would choose.
